Today in maths we made patterns. Can you find the pattern in each picture?
Welcome to our studio blog. We are 60 Year 1 and 2 ACTIVE Halswell kids who are excited about sharing our learning. We hope you enjoy our posts and we would love you to leave a comment.

How to Tame your beast
On Friday we watched Mojo show how he calmed his beast when he experiences a powerful emotion. We talked about how everyone has a beast/monster that may come out when they are feeling sad, angry, anxious, nervous tired or hurt. We shared with our buddies about a time when our beast came out and what happened. We watched a video that showed how Mojo calms his beast by breathing.

Mindful breathing with Mojo
We drew our beasts:
My beast comes out when I faint and am worried.
My beast comes out when I'm nervous.
My beast comes out when I'm frustrated.
My beast comes out when I'm angry.
My beast comes out when I am hurt.
My beast comes out when I am angry or when I get hurt.
My beast comes out when I'm really angry.
My beast comes out when I am sad.
My beast comes out when I'm angry.

Poetry Week
This week was poetry week in the library. We decided to write our own poems in Ti Kouka. We learnt how to write an acrostic poem.
We also learned how to use good describing words (adjectives) in our poems. We had fun brainstorming all the describing words we could think of for monsters. We then used these words to help write our poems about monsters.

Poetry and Play reading
We enjoyed listening to the Strawberry reading group read their poem about POPCORN. They did great actions as they read the poem.

Jump Jam for Fun
We love doing Jump Jam. It is great for our coordination and fitness.
Each Monday at 2nd Lunch, we can choose to stay in Ti Kouka and do Jump Jam for fun. Some of us have enjoyed learning new songs!
The year 2 and 3's from Orongomai love coming and Jump Jamming with us too!
Giraffes Making Music
This week the Giraffes group read the book My Musical Instrument. We decided that it would be fun to create some instruments of our own.
We chose different glasses and filled them up with different amounts of water.
We practised taking turns and listening to each others sounds.
We talked about the sounds we could hear and decided whether we thought they were high or low.
