Challenging Ourselves Physically

This week during ACTIVE play, we have seen the children try lots of different ways to challenge themselves physically. Handstands and cartwheels were popular.

The imagination playground was even turned into gym and athletics equipment.

We Love Being ACTIVE

We love dancing and singing in Ti Kouka. Exercise is a great way to help our brains grow!

We use Jump Jam, GoNoodle and Youtube clips that we can follow and learn the moves. These songs are great for a rainy day when we can't get outside to play on the playground.

Flamingo Painting

Today we were lucky enough to have Mrs O'neill show us how to paint flamingos.

We followed step by step instructions.

We feel very proud of our creations.

Reading in Ti Kouka

In Ti Kouka we are all part of a reading group. We read at a jellybean table with a teacher. Before we read the book we spend time talking about the cover and what we think might happen. We also try to link the book we are reading to the things we know. While we are reading we use the strategies we are learning to help work out tricky words.

Some of us have Word Balloon books or sheets. We take these home to practise. It's exciting when we get to colour a new word in!

Each day we read books from our Read to Self boxes. It's lots of fun getting to pick our own books to read. Sometimes we read our book to a buddy.

Sometimes we get to perform a play to the studio or do an art activity based on the book.

We are learning Mandarin (Chinese)

This afternoon we sang a song to help us learn how to say, "hello my name is..." and good bye in Mandarin.

We all had a chance to practise. We are excited to keep learning more.

T10 at Buddies

Today at buddies our big buddies helped us to make a cool bookmark.

We can't wait to use them at home.

Some of the T10 girls came back and showed some T14 and T15 girls how to make their own. What great INTERACTORS!!!
