Growing our brains and bodies at PMP

This term for our physical education we have PMP (Perceptual Motor Programme) in the Pukeko room twice a week. This programme helps us with balance, ball skills, hand eye coordination, memory training and eye tracking.

During this activity the boys are carefully rolling the ball to one another. They are following the ball with their eyes and are reading to catch it.

During this activity Ethan and Henry are practising the underarm throw by trying to get the bean bags into each of the hoops. Great shot boys!

This is our eye-tracking station. The leader gets to drop the ball while the others try their best to follow the ball with their eyes. The group did a wonderful job of following their leaders instructions.

During this station, we have to walk like moneys and climb through without touching the shapes!

This is a memory activity that helps us to grow our brains!
Each of the circles has a picture on it and we have to remember the order that the leader tells us. Then we have to say it out loud and jump on each one. Well done Blakely for remembering all of the symbols!

The Power of Kindness

Ti Kouka has been learning all about the 'Power of Kindness".

We have been reading an interactive storybook called Oat the Goat.

This book helps children think about how we can be kind to people and what we should do if we come across people being mean.

Oat's important message is
"kindness wins in the end"

Dinosaur Fossils

During open door Friday we start our process of making dinosaur fossils.

We started by making a salt dough with flour, salt and water.

We then kneaded the dough for 5 minutes. Our arms were soooo tired!!

We used the dinosaur toys that we have to imprint dinosaur shapes into the dough.

We left them over the weekend to harden and dry.

On Monday we used water colours to paint the fossils.

We discussed how real fossils could be all different colours depending on what kind materials they were made out of.

Open Door Friday Photos

Pink Shirt Friday

Today it was Pink Shirt Friday. We were allowed to wear pinks shirts to show we wanted to stand together to stop Bullying.

It was great to see lots of children, and teachers, dressed in pink.

Fun at the Park

When we visited the museum we had lunch at the Arts Centre and then we got to go and play on a cool tree in the gardens.

It was a bit tricky to climb sometimes but we all tried our best.
