Problem Solving Maths

This week we begun our maths problem-solving sessions. Each week the children will spend two sessions working with a buddy to solve a problem. The other two sessions will be spent developing their number knowledge.

First we spent time talking about how we work with a buddy. The things we decided were really important were:
  • Respect our buddies and be nice
  • Active listening by looking at our buddy and thinking about what is being said
  • Take turns
  • Help each other to learn by sharing ideas
  • Ask questions if we don't understand
  • Be drivers of our own learning

At the end of each session we spend time sharing how we solved the problem.

It's great being able to learn how other people solve problems. 😃
