Maths: Giving Directions

This week we have been doing coding activities to help us practise giving directions. We have been practising using the language forwards, backwards, right, left, quarter-turn and half-turn.

We had lots of fun working with our buddies using the Bee-Bots, the Bee-Bot app and teddies when we have been doing unplugged coding.

It has been tricky learning how to give a series of directions.

T10's Buddies Helped With Road Safety

We had buddies on Wednesday this week.

T10's buddies helped us learn how to cross the road safely. We went out on to the courts and drew roads and footpaths. We then practised our safe crossings.

Road Safety

This week we have continued to learn about Road Safety

Constable Ross came in and did two sessions with us.

The first was in the Blue Room. We talked about the different kind of traffic and how to be safe in a car.

The second session was a walk around the streets near school. We talked about how you need to stop, look and listen before your cross the street. We all got a turn to do this in groups.

We also learnt about how you need to look out for sneaky driveways.

At the end of the walk Constable Ross showed us his Police car. He even showed us the lights and sirens. It was LOUD!

Thanks to the wonderful helpers who came along on our walk so we were safe.

PMP Activities During Open Door Friday

Today we brought some of the PMP equipment over to use during Open Door Friday.

We had fun working together to try and balance the see-saws.

How T14 comes to school

We did a survey to see how our T group travelled to school. Here is T14's results.

Most people come to school in a car!

We then talked about ways we could keep safe when we are coming to school. Then we wrote our ideas in our books. Here are some of our ideas:

I go to school in a car. To keep safe I wear a seatbelt. I have a car seat. I make sure that my door is properly shut at all times. Don't shout when the driver is concentrating.

Traffic

We started our road safety topic this week. We read a poem about Traffic and made a big brainstorm of all the traffic we could think of. We then went out to Halswell Road and surveyed the traffic that was going past.
